ROVER 16
Saloon, sports saloon, drophead coupé.
Another new engine, derived from the 100mm stroke 10 engine. By '39 all sixes had built-in jacks, roll stabilisers front and rear, and this car could manage 75mph on a 4.7:1 top gear. It was very much a status symbol for the man going up the company ladder - much the same image as the firm has today. Year by year model changes were as for the smaller engined cars, and by 1940 you could have twin windtone horns on the sports saloons and coupés, while pass and fog lamps had long been standarad equipment.
