Rover
ROVER 3 1/2 LITRE

4-door 5-seater saloon/coupé.

More colloquially known as the P5B, this was the old Rover 3-litre structure fitted with the light-alloy ex-Buick V8 engine and automatic transmission, much favoured by Government officials - even Cabinet ministers - for some years. Coupé was really no more than a low-roofline saloon, still with same seating. All had great dignity (and weight), ponderous roadholding, could do 110mph flat out, allied to about 20mpg. Solidly built but by no means rot-proof, they have become favoured classics today. Never directly replaced.
