SS
SS JAGUAR 2½-LITRE

4-door saloon, tourer.

First of the overhead valve cars from the SS firm - Jaguar was just the model name. The weslake/Heynes head took advantage of Standard's solid (seven bearing) bottom end, and produced 104bhp with the aid of twin SU carbs. New frame was underslung at the rear, there was a 119ins wheelbase, the four speed 'box had sporting close ratios, and the car really made the firm's name. Saloon bodywork was elegant and comfortable, the engine smooth and flexible - overall an excellent machine.
