SS SS1 (1932)

Close coupled coupé.

The ultimate cad's car, with its long bonnet termination in a little dog kennel of a coupé body with dummy hood irons. Performance was unspectacular (70mph about the limit) but what did you expect from a Standard sidevalve engine? The frames were underslung, made especially for Lyons by Standard. The seven-bearing engine had coil ignition, there was a four-speed 'box, and semi-elliptics were fitted all round. 20hp engine was £10 extra, and it looked a £1000 car which cost all of £310.
