Studebaker

Studebaker
STUDEBAKER COMMANDER (1930-34)

Royal saloon, Regular saloon, brougham, foursome coupé, three-quarter coupé, 2/3-seat roadster.

Very similar to the President, down to nine bearing engine, semi-elliptics and Bendix brakes. '30s came on a 120ins frame, '31s with 124ins wheelbase, lengthened to 125ins for '32, shortened to 117ins for '33 and '34. Phew! Freewheels and synchro were new for '31, '33 saw a flamboyant vee-grille, although under the surface it was pretty ordinary. '34 styling is beset with confusing number of compound curves, but the roadster was always a good looker, despite too much chrome trim.
