Sunbeam

Sunbeam
SUNBEAM ALPINE (1969-76)

2-door 5-seater coupé.

Basic style and sheet metal as Rapier, but with single-carb Hunter engine (74-vs-88bhp as claimed at the time), 90mph top speed, and no overdrive, radial ply tyres or fancy facia panels. Little, in fact, to recommend it to the collector these days. As Michael Sedgwick once summarised: 'A stripped, austerity fastback Rapier'. Not to be confused with sixties two-seater sports Alpines, or mid-seventies front-drive hatchback models either!
