Triumph
TRIUMPH SPITFIRE 1500

2-door 2-seater open sports car.

The final Spitfire derivative, now with 1.5-litres for all markets; 71bhp (DIN) in Uk gave a 100mph top speed at last. Chassis, ride and roadholding all as for the MkIV, i.e. eminently satisfactory, but thought hard and rattly by mid-seventies standards. All-synchromesh gearbox at last - this and the engine being fitted to Midgets from late '74 too. No important development changes, as this was the last of the separate chassis Triumphs, outliving its Herald parent by a decade.
