TRIUMPH TR6 (1969-76)

2-door 2-seater open sports car.

The TR6, launched in 1969, was really the TR5 with a substantially facelifted body style by Karmann. Sold mainly in the USA, with approx 105bhp carburetted engine, but in UK and Europe with the rorty Lucas-injected 150bhp unit - later de-tuned and recalibrated for 1973 at 124bhp (DIN). Most had overdrive, some had wire wheels and squared-up hardtop, while all had a he-man character with hard all-independent suspension and hefty front discs. 120mph and perhaps 20mpg were normal. Displaced, but not re-placed, by the TR7 in mid-decade.
