VAUXHALL CARLTON

4-door 5-seater saloon/estate car.

Like the Cavaliers, the Carlton was a slightly modified new-generation Opel Rekord when introduced in 1978, as a direct VX1800/2300 replacement. Conventional chassis layout, with all-Opel engines, transmissions and suspensions, nearly Granada size but somehow without Granada presence. The diesel option and the 1.8-litre overhead-cam engine arrived for 1983, the 2.2-litre for 1985.
