VAUXHALL CRESTA/VISCOUNT

4-door 6-seater saloon/estate car.

The last of the big Vauxhalls, clearly with US-inspired GM styling, and a rusting reputation well-deserved as for all such Luton-built cars. Massive and roomy, flexible and powerful (123bhp/near 100mph), but commercially unsuccessful. 108ins wheelbase ensured great carrying capacity, with safe though uninspired roadholding. Viscount was Luton's answer to Ford's Zodiac, with similar up-market wood and gewgaws. A few survive.
