VOLVO 240 SALOON SERIES

4-door 5-seater saloon.

From the screen back this used the 140 series shell, but with new overhead cam engines, MacPherson strut suspension and shovel-nose styling up front. The first diesel types (VW powered by the way) came in 1979, and turbo-charging in 181. Myriad small, and not so small, style, handling and power changes over the years, and still very much with us. Power ranging front 97bhp for single-carb 2-litre, through 140bhp for injected GLT type, and on to 155bhp for turbocharged unit. 82bhp diesel model never sold here. Like the 140 series, indestructible if cared for.
