Porsche is bringing an impressive 20 never-before-seen restored cars to next month's Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at the NEC Birmingham (9-11 November).

Part of a major celebration in the marque's 70th-anniversary year, the display features a collection of special-edition cars built to mark the milestone.

Starring 10 first-generation Boxsters as well as air-cooled, water-cooled and transaxle cars, all 20 are finished in ‘Liquid Metal’ silver paint, which had only previously been used on the 918 Spyder.

Each of the specially restored cars bears a commemorative anniversary plaque and has a bespoke interior.

Only Porsche Classic Genuine Parts and accessories from Porsche Classic's range were used in the restorations, and the work was carried out in conjunction with Porsche Centres and Porsche Recommended Repairers.

Like the look of these? They're going to be sold later in the year – and you can find out more about this on the stand at the NEC.

Only genuine Porsche parts have been used and all cars will be sold soon

And that's not all, as a second stand will have a starting-grid-like display of Restoracing cars.

But what's Restoracing? Read on...

There have been three previous restoration competitions held between Porsche Centres and 2018's honoured the Boxster's 20th anniversary.

Each centre was given the task of taking a 986 Boxster S and restoring it to race specification. Not only that, but each car had to be finished in a livery inspired by the marque's motorsport heritage.

Staff members without any racing experience then competed in these cars in a three-round, six-race series called Restoracing at Brands Hatch and Silverstone.

Porsche Centre Bolton was victorious and a second series is being planned for 2019.

And there's yet more – the ‘Project 70’ racing car will be at the NEC show, too.

It's been raced this year by famous names including Derek Bell, Anthony Reid and Richard Attwood, and is based on a 1965 short-wheelbase 911, with a 2.0-litre engine.

So if you're a big Porsche fan, there's lots for you in hall 1 of this year's Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show – buy tickets here.
