Top seller at the Richard Edmonds Classic & Vintage car auction at Castle Combe, Wiltshire on 26 March was a 1904 Renault T Type. There was fierce bidding for the Veteran both in the room and on the phones before the gavel came down at a precise, mid-estimate price.
Also selling well was a 1936 Singer Le Mans, the first lot of the day. It hit estimate at £20k and augured well for the rest of the sale that eventually raised just over £300,000.
Other lots to shuttle through were a 1959 MGA Twin Cam which sold for £25,000 and a 1935, Hillman Aero Minx Sport which raised £13,000. There were two Triumphs roadsters crossing the dais. A fully restored car made £19,000 (against an estimate of £20-22k) while a project car in need of restoration sold for £5300. Depending on the quality and extent of the restoration, that makes the first car look like a very good buy potentially.
