Once again, Lego is here to help solve the age-old classic-car enthusiast problem of not having enough space or money to own all the cars you want at the same time.

It’s launched a brand-new, 1470-piece recreation of a 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback that’ll require shelf rather than garage space – and it looks really rather good.

This kit is part of the Lego Creator Expert series, it’s available from Friday (1 March) and it’s priced at £119.99.

For that you get a fetching, dark-blue body with white stripes and a bonnet scoop, a printed Mustang grill badge, GT emblems, working steering and Torq Thrust-style wheels.

This mini Mustang stands around 10cm high, is 34cm long and 14cm wide, it has a detailed replica of a 6.4-litre V8 under the bonnet, complete with a battery, hoses and air filter, and it’s customisable, too.

Options include a supercharger, a rear spoiler, beefy exhaust pipes, a front chin spoiler and a nitrous oxide tank. Want a mean look? You can raise the rear.

Open the doors or remove the roof to peek inside where you’ll see classic-style, tan-coloured Mustang seats, a radio and a gearlever.

“The Ford Mustang is one of the most iconic, symbolic cars in history – and to bring this fan favourite muscle car to life in brick form, with this level of customisation, has been exhilarating,” said Jamie Berard, Design Lead on Lego Creator Expert.

“We can’t wait to see our Lego and Ford Mustang fans’ own creations when they get their hands on this new set.”

Fancy it? It’s available in Lego shops and here online from Friday.
