Racer's L88 Corvette is priciest purchase at Mecum's Dallas sale

Top-seller at Mecum's 1155-car, $31.5million Dallas Collector Car Auction was a 1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Convertible that made $680,000.

The auction house managed to shift 766 of the lots and the L88 – ordered new by racer Tony DeLorenzo – was one of only two 1969 cars finished in black on black.

In second spot was a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro at $300k, the car being significant because it was the first delivered to Yenko. A 1969 Yenko Camaro was just behind at $285,000.

The top 10 lots featured no fewer than four Ford GTs, ranging from $255-280,000.
