A Citroën 2CV belonging to Australian V8 Supercar racer Dick Johnson is set to excite at Shannons' 17 November sale. The 1984 Charleston – the slowest car in Johnson's garage – is expected to sell for $14-18,000.
"My wife always loved 2CVs, so when we saw this one for sale we had to have it," said Johnson. "With its loping, long-travel suspension, it's about as far away from a V8 Supercar as you can get, but because it was designed to cope with French cobblestones, it is perfectly at home on Queensland's roads!"
As well as being connected to the motor sport icon, the car also has television history: it was previously owned by actress Trudie Goodwin, who played Sergeant June Auckland in The Bill.
Other highlights in the sale include a 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster ($80-90,000), a four-wheel-drive Holden Sandman panel van ($34-38,000) and a 1972 MGB roadster ($20,000+).
A 1954 Austin-Healey 100 BN1 looks great value at $50-55,000.
