Dozens of classics, hot rods, trucks and motorbikes took to the show field to celebrate Australia’s motoring diversity at Wheels of Wollondilly on 9 May in order to raise money for the Wollondilly Anglican College at Tahmoor, 100km south of Sydney. Chris Martin reports.
The wide variety of classics offered some unexpected contrasts, including a 1955 Chevy that dwarfed an Austin-Healey Frogeye Sprite, a Jaguar MkII alongside a Studebaker Cruiser, while another rubbed shoulders with a Holden Station Wagon complete with fake ‘woodie’ decoration and surfboards on its roof.
Mustang clubs were out in force and easily outnumbered every other marque, and there was even a trio of finely decorated Kenworth trucks to dazzle visitors.
An unusual 1930 Nash was one of the earliest cars on display, along with an Austin Seven and a very tidy 1934 Plymouth PF Roadster.
A display of retired police vehicles included a mid-‘70s Valiant Charger, but even that would have struggled to keep up with the Hemi Cuda.
