More than 200 classic cars are expected to tackle Prescott Hill Climb on 10 May to raise money for charity. The event, which is a joint project between Stewart Miller Insurance and the Cheltenham Cleeve Vale Rotary Club, will allow any pre-1980s vehicle to run up the famous hill in exchange for a small donation.
Participants can drive the hill as many times as they wish, while a gentle cavalcade is also being organised for those who prefer a more sedate ride. An open paddock will provide a great opportunity for visitors to get close to the cars, which will include Berkeleys, Bucklers, Rileys and Turners, as well as Blower Bentleys and even an Alvis Crested Eagle.
If anyone needs a few tips before taking to the hill, saloon car racer John 'Smokin'' Rhodes will be on hand to relive tales of his sideways antics at the wheel of his works Mini Cooper 'S', as well as signing copies of his new book.
"This event has something for everyone – beautiful scenery, stunning cars and thrilling on-road action," said Stewart Miller Insurance director Peter James. "It is a fantastic family day out that raises valuable funds for a variety of worthy causes – we are thoroughly looking forward to meeting all the visitors who come along to enjoy the day."
Last year's event raised in excess of £16,000 for charity, bringing the total amount of money raised since its launch in 2004 to £160,000.
The event will be open from 10-4pm, with a suggested donation of £15 per car.
