A number of significant milestones, including the 60th and 40th anniversaries of the Jaguar Mk1 and Jaguar XJS will be marked at Shelsley Walsh’s Classic Nostalgia event, which takes place on 18-19 July.
The Coventry firms competition history is also set to feature prominently, with its Le Mans history set to be a focus. A Jaguar last won Le Mans in 1990, and the spirit of that era is expected to be revived by the World Championship-winning XJR 9 #187, which will be driven on demonstration runs throughout the weekend.
It will be joined by the Group 44 Jaguar and Broadspeed Jaguar XJ12 Coupe, both of which will also serve to honour Derek Bell. Former Jaguar test driver Norman Dewis will also be on hand on the final day of the event, and will be available to sign copies of his new book.
In addition to the action on the hillclimb course, a strong club turnout is also expected, with the Jaguar XK Enthusiasts Club and Jaguar XJS Club both putting on displays of their members’ cars. Elsewhere, the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust will bring a number of vehicles, including Ian Callum’s reinvented Jaguar Mk2
