Rolls-Royce honours Sir Henry Royce

The life of Sir Frederick Henry Royce was recognised yesterday as Rolls-Royce marked 80 years since his death.

Royce, who modestly referred to himself as ‘the mechanic’, was a stickler for attention to detail and quality.

The company’s corporate communications manager Andrew Ball said: “Today we commemorate the death of Sir Henry but also celebrate an extraordinary life and a lasting legacy.”

The Rolls-Royce Motor Cars exhibition at BMW’s Museum in Munich pays tribute to the work of Royce, telling the story of his original meeting with Charles Stewart Rolls in 1904, through to the company’s present-day creations.
