If you thought the Silverstone Classic was all about racing, think again! A mouth-watering array of rally stars has been confirmed for next month’s event.
And for British rallying fans, it doesn’t get much more spine-tingling than the Subaru Impreza of 1995 World Rally Championship-winning driver Colin McRae.
In fact, it’s a return to Silverstone for that car, as McRae campaigned it at the Northamptonshire circuit in 1997, when the track featured as a WRC spectator special stage, en route to securing his third Network Q RAC Rally victory.
If that’s not evocative enough, how about some Group B greats?
Classic rally-car heroes including a Ford RS200, Peugeot 205 T16 and Nissan 240RS are coming to Silverstone – and, unlike McRae’s Impreza, they’ll be in action.
Catch their demo runs on the strip of former track between what were once Abbey and Bridge (now christened the Shift & Drift Zone).
Here they will be vying for spectators’ attention with the rubber-burning Streetcar Shootout, which is at the meeting for the 10th time and which will see over 70 cars competing for top honours as it showcases the best of British streetcar drag racing.
