Classic & Sports Car – Ultra-rare Porsche 356 Speedster in British concours debut

It's the last of only four right-hand-drive examples made, it's the only one in the UK and it is set to stun at Salon Privé.

We're talking about this Porsche 356A RHD Carrera Speedster which will make its British concours debut in the Concours Masters Celebration of 70 Years of Porsche at Blenheim Palace on 1 September.

Only 152 of these quad-cam sports cars were ever produced, with right-hand-drive cars being the rarest of the many variations on the theme.

And this example has already won awards overseas, so is sure to be a contender when it lines up as one of the 50 landmark Porsches vying for silverware at this anniversary concours.

Just four right-hand-drive examples of this gorgeous model were ever built

Back in September 1957, this car was delivered new to an Australian hotelier.

Many years later, in 2014, it underwent a restoration, during which its original – and very striking – ruby red colour was reinstated, as well as the period-correct black-leather upholstery with corduroy inserts.

With its Porsche contest on Saturday 1 September and the Chubb Insurance Concours d’Elégance a few days earlier on Thursday 30 August, Salon Privé in Oxfordshire will become the first event in the world to stage two concours in the same week.
