Our excellent photographers here at Classic & Sports Car have been working hard all year, bringing fabulous photos to the pages of our magazine every month. So let’s celebrate their efforts as they share their favourite images of 2021 with us.
I had the Corgi toy of the Goldfinger Aston Martin DB5 when I was a kid, complete with all the pop-up gadgets, so it was great to do a shoot with the real thing (October). The weather was perfect that day, and having a set of other Bond cars on hand was really special.
There’s nothing better than a brightly coloured car in an exciting location, which sums up this image perfectly. I loved exploring the Isle of Wight in Greg MacLeman’s Triumph 2500TC (September), and it was great to shoot somewhere that wasn’t inner-city London or South Wales.
I chose this image of the Hispano-Suiza J12 (October) because it was such a special vehicle to shoot. All of the light pinging off the car made it feel glitzy, and I used a prism to split the light and create a special effect in the corner, leading your eye towards the nose of the car.
In Palm Springs, I asked the owner of the Dodge Polara if he knew of a country road in the desert and he said he had just the place... an hour’s drive away. We arrived just as the sun was setting, which meant lovely light, but left us only about 30 mins to do the shoot before it got dark.
