A 1972 Jaguar E-type Series III Roadster is set to cross the block at Classic Car Auctions’ 24 September sale after being discovered in a Carlisle barn.
The V12 E-type was first registered in 1972 and was bought by a Carlisle chemist four years later. The Jaguar enthusiast, who owned a number of other big cats, used the roadster extensively before passing it to his wife in 1982. In February 2007 the car was given to their son on his 30th birthday.
Packed away under plastic sheeting, the E-type stayed in the barn for two decades.
“My dad loved cars and race days,” said the vendor. “It will be sad to see the car go but now it can be brought back to life and enjoyed, as it should be.”
The yellow example has covered 43,285 miles and is said to be complete and original.
“Jaguar E-types are among the most sought-after and collectible classic cars on the market today, and the Series III represents excellent value,” said CCA’s Guy Lees-Milne. “Naturally, a barnfind like this is in need of some attention, but it will make a very exciting project and we expect bidders to be out in force.”
