Mecum Auctions is set to return to Denver, Colorado for only its second ever sale in the city, with in excess of 700 classic cars, hot rods and custom vehicles set to cross the block on 8-9 July.
Leading the pack is a 1970 Buick GSX Stage 1, which features an interesting spec sheet. The Saturn Yellow muscle car was ordered with a dealer-fitment Stage II package, including a hot cam, Edelbrock B4B manifold, Holley 850 CFM carburettor and Mickey Thompson Super Scavenger headers. It took 33 years before the GSX’s 510ft lb torque figure was finally bettered.
As well as featuring in a number of magazines, the Buick is also a two-times GSCA Nationals winner.
Also expected to draw plenty of attention is a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette, which is one of just 267 examples fitted with J56 power brakes. The 400bhp example has factory fitted air conditioning, black leather seats, shoulder harnesses and bolt-on wheels, plus power steering and windows.
One of the youngest cars in the sale is also one of the most eagerly anticipated. The 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition is one of just 343 examples produced, built to commemorate the John Wyer Racing Gulf-liveried GT40, which won consecutive victories in the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1968 and 1969.
The car features a number of nods to the original, most notable its blue and orange paintwork but also more subtle eyelet vents in its black leather seats.
