The last Pontiac Trans Am in Burt Reynolds’ collection – and the final Smokey and the Bandit tribute car to be endorsed by the actor – has sold for more than $180,000 at Carlisle Auctions’ 23-24 April sale.
Purchased last year, the car was fully restored by Murphy Auto Body and Restoration in West Palm Beach, Florida, as well as being converted into a replica of the famous movie car – a promotional example of which was sold for a staggering $480,000 by Reynolds in 2014.
Despite being built to a very high standard, the most recent Trans Am lacked the movie pedigree of last year’s car, which was used to promote the original film and was given to the actor when filming ended.
