It’s not every day that the opportunity to own a race-ready Formula One car presents itself, but that’s exactly what will be crossing the virtual block via online auction site Catawiki later this month.
The car is question is a Dallara F192, which was campaigned during the 1992 Formula One season by BMS Scuderia Italia – though not with much success. Pierluigi Martini was the man behind the wheel, managing to steer the car to a brace of sixth-place finishes at the Spanish and San Marino Grands Prix.
Despite its uninspiring race record, the Dallara is still an incredible piece of machinery. The chassis specialist had plenty of experience in Formula Three and IndyCar before breaking into Formula One in 1988, while power was provided by Ferrari’s tried and tested 3.5-litre V12 – capable of producing in excess of 700bhp.
It’s recently been back to BMS Scuderia Italia for a thorough check-up, and was taken out for a few shake down laps.
Estimated to fetch between £242-316,000 and coming with a trolley jack, a spare set of wheels and additional tyres, it could prove to be the ultimate track car.
