The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show is set to honour racing legend Ayrton Senna from 11-13 November.
The Brazilian ace’s Lotus 98T will go on show at the event to mark this year’s theme, Heroes and Heroines. Senna campaigned the car throughout the 1986 season, starting in pole position eight times.
The 98T also marked the end of an era in Formula One, being both the last of the John Player Special-liveried racers and one of the last cars with an unrestricted turbocharged engine.
The Lotus has recently been restored by Dawn Treader Performance.
Also on display is a portrait by artist Ian Berry. Ayrton Senna Sempre was produced using pieces of denim jeans worn by the Senna family and intertwined to create an image of the legendary driver. The artwork is owned by Senna’s mother, and has been displayed around the world to raise awareness of the charitable foundation The Ayrton Senna Institute.
