Donald Campbell and his record-breaking Bluebird will be honoured at Motorclassica, Australia's leading concours d'elegance from 24-26 October.
This year represents the 50th anniversary of Campbell's greatest achievement – becoming the first and only person to hold the Land and Water Speed Records and World Water Speed Records in the same year.
The turbine-powered four-wheel-drive Bluebird CN7 was taken to a dizzying 690kph (429mph) at Lake Eyre, South Australia in July 1964. Just five months later a new top speed of 444.71kph (276.33mph) was achieved on Lake Dumbleyung, Western Australia in his K7 boat.
Campbell's daughter Gina has been revealed as the event's 2014 ambassador, and will open a special display of Bluebird artefacts and memorabilia – plus a number of her father's personal effects.
Among the ephemera will be a Bluebird CN7 nose-cone, a spare wheel, and Donald's famous lucky charm – his teddy bear, Mr Whoppitt.
"I'm very humbled that Motorclassica has seen fit to honour my father in such a wonderful way," said Gina Campbell. "The people of Australia were instrumental in making their country and sites available for Dad's world record attempts and had an enormous input into his success, so I'm delighted to be able to visit to say thank you."
In addition to commemorating Campbell and Bluebird, the three-day event will also host a number of other displays, including a special collection of Maserati road and race cars to mark 100 years of the Italian manufacturer.
