It’s always nice to have a well-known owner on a car’s logbook. Even more so when the person in question is former Mercedes team principle, Formula 1 managing director and renowned Ferrari enthusiast Ross Brawn. But that’s only one string to this Ferrari’s bow.
The 1974 246GTS is one of the rarest in existence, being one of just 12 right-hand-drive ‘Flares’ examples featuring factory fitted 7.5-inch sand-cast Campagnolo wheels with a wider track and flared wheelarches. Of the handful of examples built for the UK market, Ross Brawn’s former charge was the penultimate car to be imported.
Freshly painted in period Bianco Polo Park White, the Ferrari is in fine condition having covered just 24,000 miles throughout its life. Its seats have been beautifully re-trimmed to Daytona specification completing the factory-fitted package known in period as ‘Chairs and Flares’.
“This is one very special Dino indeed,” said Hexagon Classics’ Paul Michaels. “Not only does it have a famous previous owner in the shape of Ross Brawn, but it is also one of the rarest in the world. The factory-fitted ‘Flares’ package is rightly highly desirable – those stunning Campagnolo wheels, wider track and, of course, flared arches, are subtle yet stunning additions to an already striking car.
“Factor in the retro-fitted Daytona seats, right-hand-drive and its status as the penultimate Dino to be brought to the UK and you have a very collectable classic Ferrari. This is without doubt a wonderful opportunity to purchase one of the finest Dinos currently on sale anywhere.”
