It’s 60 years since Bruce McLaren founded the racing team that still carries his name today and, to celebrate, a selection of historic McLaren machinery will be at next month’s Classic Nostalgia.
Key figures from the squad’s past will also be attending, including engineer John Barnard, whose innovative designs helped McLaren secure the Formula One Constructors’ Championship in 1984 and ’85.
This will join anniversary celebrations for 65 years of the British Touring Car Championship, 60 years of the Mini Cooper ‘S’ and 90 years of Railton at the two-day meeting at Shelsley Walsh in Worcestershire, on 22-23 July.
The McLaren M10B heading to Classic Nostalgia is no stranger to Shelsley Walsh’s challenging hillclimb.
The car, initially used for Formula 5000 competition, was campaigned by four-time British Hillclimb Champion Roy Lane in the early 1970s.
Other Formula 5000 stars set to tackle the hillclimb include another M10B plus a later M18.
They’ll be joined by two Can-Am McLarens: a 1968 M6 and a 1969 M12.
