An 100-strong entry list has been announced for the inaugural Auto Royale, a brand-new British concours d’elegance coming to Waddesdon Manor in Buckinghamshire on 16-18 July 2021.
Cars coming from as far away as Australia, New Zealand, India, Indonesia, Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Italy, as well as from collections in the UK, will compete in 15 classes, before vying for overall glory.
Among those tipped for the top are a fresh-from-restoration 1950 Talbot-Lago T26 Grand Sport Coupé by Saoutchik, last seen in 2016 at the Chantilly Arts & Elegance, prior to its restoration, which will contest the ‘Post-War – Closed’ class next month.
And it will face tough in-class competition from cars including the 1956 Lancia Florida Berlina by Pinin Farina (above), from Corrado Lopresto’s collection, a car that’s already scooped four class wins at European concours, including the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
Another to look for will be the Zagato-bodied, Scuderia Ferrari Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Spider (above), that Tazio Nuvolari drove to victory on the 1931 Coppa Ciano, which is also a former Cartier Style et Luxe class winner at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It is entered into the ‘Pre-War – Open’ class at Auto Royale.
