A race dedicated to pre-1936 vehicles – the Pé na Tábua Corrida de Calhambeques – will celebrate its fifth anniversary this year as it returns to Speed Park, near Sao Paulo from 1-3 May. This year’s event is expected to be bigger than ever before, with three-times Formula One World Champion Nelson Piquet the guest of honour.
Piquet has history at the event, having competed for the past three years in his 1927 Lincoln and has previously won the Speed category. He will be joined by his son – and quicker man at last year's event – Pedro Piquet, who will be competing in another class.
In addition to Piquet’s Lincoln, a 1913 Ford Model T and 1909 Ford Speedster will represent the Blue Oval, while entries from Renault, Hudson and Packard are also slated to race. It is hoped that more than 60 pre-’36 cars will take part, with a number of pre-’50 motorcycles also expected to participate.
