No fewer than 14 British Touring Car Championship race-winning drivers have been confirmed to drive at the Goodwood Revival from 11-13 September, including no fewer than four series champions.
The group is headed by Jason Plato, the two times champion and most successful BTCC driver of all time, in terms of race wins. Celebrity chef James Martin will pair the current Touring Car ace in the St Mary’s Trophy for 1960-’66 saloons, in which they will campaign a 1964 Morris Mini Cooper ’S’.
Stiff competition will be offered by Honda’s current lineup of Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden, whose joint trophy cabinet boasts four BTCC trophies. They are slated to share a Ford Lotus Cortina, while Neal will also take the wheel of a Sunbeam Lister Tiger in the RAC TT Celebration for 1960s GTs.
Current teammates Andy Priaulx and Sam Tordoff will also be taking part but, for a change of pace, they’ll be running against each other. Priaulx will drive BMW’s own 1800 TiSA, while Tordoff will be in a Fiat Abarth 1500S.
2013 champion Andrew Jordan will team up with his father and two times British GT Champion Mike. The duo finished second in the St Mary’s Trophy last year in their Austin A40, and will be hoping to improve on their record in September.
Steve Soper, Tiff Needell, Jackie Oliver and Darren Turner will also join the star-studded lineup, which will include a number of Le Mans legends: Derek Bell, Tom Kristensen and Emmanuele Pirro.
A number of the drivers are expected to take part in the meeting’s other races. Patrick Watts will race a Cooper-Bristol T25 against the Mercedes-Benz 300SL ‘Gullwing’ of Jochen Mass in the Freddie March Memorial Trophy, while Andy Wallace will be in a Jaguar C-type.
