Goodwood has confirmed that its 79th Members’ Meeting, on 9-10 April 2022, will honour two iconic Porsche Le Mans racers in a pair of evocative demonstrations.
The German marque achieved six consecutive victories at the Circuit de la Sarthe between 1982 and 1987, 956s taking the first four, 962s on top in 1986 and ’87.
Goodwood’s tributes will mark the 40th anniversary of the 956’s maiden win, the first demonstration taking place at sunset on the Saturday of the event, to recreate the atmosphere of the legendary 24-hour race, with a second outing for these Group C stars the following day.
Around 20 956s and 962s will be invited, hopefully accompanied by some of the 177 drivers who achieved racing glory in them.
Organisers have revealed that two more demonstrations are planned for the event that returns to his springtime slot in the motorsport calendar, following its pandemic-prompted move to October for this year’s 78th edition.
And we are sure these will be joined by a mouth-watering timetable of historic motorsport.
