So, what’s in store at Classic Nostalgia 2023?
C&SC will be back on the Sunday of Classic Nostalgia with our popular, free-to-enter annual Concours d’Elegance.
Our concours is open to all cars built before 1985 and entries will be accepted on the day, between 8am and 10:30am.
Classes will include Pre-WW2, 1949-’59, 1960-’85 Saloons and 1960-’85 Sports/GTs, plus there is a Spirit of the Day award.
And it is always worth dedicating some time to walking around the car park, enjoying the wonderful classic cars visitors have arrived in and the car club displays, plus there will be live music, trade stands and interviews.
Taking to the 1000-yard hillclimb will be a phalanx of British motorsport legends, headed by a celebration of 65 years of the British Touring Car Championship.
Cars already confirmed include a 1978 BSCC Toyota Celica, which will be reunited with former driver Mike Wilds, a 1971 Broadspeed Ford Escort RS 1600 making its Shelsley debut that will be driven by John Fitzpatrick who won in it in period, and an ex-Barry Lee Group A Ford Escort Mk3 RS 1600i.
If you own a genuine BSCC or BTCC car and would like to take part, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Other celebrations will include 90 years of ERA, plus 60 years of both McLaren and the giant-killing Mini Cooper ‘S’.
Hero driver Warwick Banks will be returning to the wheel of the mighty Mini, while further star names already confirmed include Formula One ace and five-time Grand Prix winner John Watson, as well as Formula Atlantic regular Ian Flux, plus Ralli22 will be back, bringing Group A, Group B and WRC rally cars to Shelsley Walsh.
We’ll see you there. Get your Classic Nostalgia 2023 tickets here and take advantage of our exclusive 25% discount by quoting CSC25 if you book by 14 July.
