Classic & Sports Car has teamed up with the Midland Automobile Club once again for 2021 to help it celebrate the 10th anniversary of its wonderful Classic Nostalgia event, to be held at Shelsley Walsh hillclimb on 17-18 July.
After a break of a few years, the C&SC Concours d’Elegance returns, open to all cars built before 1985 and with a judging team headed by our own Simon Taylor. Free to enter, it will comprise four classes, separated by age, along with an award for ‘Spirit of the Day’, with the overall winner to be part of the MAC’s display at the NEC Classic Motor Show in November. Find out more here.
What’s more, C&SC readers can exclusively enjoy 25% off the advance discount ticket price by quoting code ‘CSC25’, on Classic Nostalgia tickets booked by 23:59 on 30 June.
On the hill itself there will be plenty of action, including special celebrations to mark 20 years since the late Richard Burns dramatically landed the 2001 World Rally Championship.
A selection of his cars will be joined by a tribute to the man he pipped in that title fight, 1995 World Champion Colin McRae, along with a selection of Group A, Group B and WRC cars as part of the Ralli22 class.
Other highlights will include Peter Gethin’s mighty Formula 5000 championship-winning McLaren M10B, demonstrated by historic racer Matthew Wurr; the four-wheel-drive Hepworth FF, the first car to break the 30-second barrier at Shelsley; and the ex-Pedro Rodríguez 1970 BRM P154 Can-Am car.
The late Joy Rainey, who held the Ladies’ Record for 22 years with a 28.32 secs climb, will be honoured by the presentation of a new trophy and a display featuring her well-travelled 1904 Oldsmobile.
And don’t forget you can get 25% off the advance ticket price, only with C&SC, if you quote code ‘CSC25’ when booking – offer ends at 23:59 on 30 June 2021.
