Two classic cars from Gooding & Company’s forthcoming London Auction will be previewed at the London Concours later this month.

The event is returning to the Honourable Artillery Company for its sixth running on 28-30 June and at its sister event, the 2-4 September Concours of Elegance, Gooding & Company will host its only British sale of the year.

And one of the stars of that auction that will also be at London Concours is this eye-catching Ferrari 250GT SWB in ‘Comptetizione’ form.

This classic Ferrari is a star car for good reason: its rich racing history includes an appearance at Le Mans.

The car has spent more than 20 years with its current owner, who recently had it comprehensively restored using as many original parts as possible.

Joining the 250GT SWB at this preview will be a Bugatti Type 55 Cabriolet.

The example being sold by Gooding & Company this year wears a cabriolet body penned by French coachbuilder Gangloff and it’s powered by a mighty supercharged 2.3-litre eight-cylinder engine.

It’s one of only 38 Bugatti Type 55 Cabriolets produced, plus it is a matching-numbers example.

And, of course, Gooding & Company has form when it comes to selling Bugattis at the Concours of Elegance – at its 2020 auction, a Type 59 Sports formerly owned by King Leopold III of Belgium achieved a £9,535,000 price.

No pre-sale estimates have yet been released for the 2022 lots.

Other classic cars set to go under the hammer in September include a Frazer Nash Le Mans Replica, built by the company to celebrate its third-place finish in 1949 at La Sarthe, and a rare 1965 Aston Martin DB5 Vantage Convertible.

A 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing, a 1959 Lancia Flaminia Sport and a 1961 Bentley S2 Continental are also in the catalogue for the 3 September sale at Hampton Court Palace.

“We’re immensely grateful to our auction partner Gooding & Company for bringing these exceptional classics to our event later this month – adding yet more star power to our show, which is shaping up to be our most spectacular yet,” said Andrew Evans, London Concours’ Director.
