With a combined value approaching £200 million, when the Kinrara Trophy grid lines up on track to kick off the competitive action at this year's Goodwood Revival (7-9 September), it will also become the most valuable motor race in the world.

Thirty pre-1963 GT cars will contest this 60-minute race into the dark, bringing to an end the opening day of the 2018 Revival.

In total, the event will showcase half a billion pounds worth of classic machinery, most examples of which will be competing in one of the 15 races.

The Kinrara Trophy is for closed-cockpit GTs with engines of three litres or more, of a type that raced prior to 1963.

Confirmed for 2018's race in the Revival's 20th-anniversary year are a mind-boggling 10 Ferrari 250GT SWBs, including the unique ‘Breadvan’, and two GTOs, including a super-rare 330GTO.

These Prancing Horses will go wheel-to-wheel with Jaguar E-types, four Aston Martin DB4GTs, two AC Cobras and a Maserati 3500 GT, V12s, V8s and straight-sixes set to go howling around the Sussex circuit.

10 Ferrari 250GT SWBs plus a pair of GTOs will also contest this record-breaking race

“It is fitting that as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Revival, we have put together the most valuable Kinrara Trophy grid ever," said the Duke of Richmond.

"As a boy I watched these cars race at Goodwood when they were new and could not have imagined how valuable cars like the Ferrari 250GT SWB would be today. This year we have 10 of them in the Kinrara Trophy, and that’s only a third of the grid.

"Most would expect to find cars of this value locked away in a garage or museum. But at the Revival you will find them racing into the dusk, headlights blazing and brake discs glowing as they roar around one of the fastest and most demanding circuits in the UK.

"It is a thrilling and unforgettable experience for spectators, and a nerve-tingling one for the owners and drivers. It truly is one of the greatest spectacles in motor racing and I look forward to seeing you all there.”
